for the purpose of evaluation I installed event calendar plugin time.ly version from WP site and then installed std version from time.ly and the result was my dashboard was completely hijacked .. I have deleted the plug in/s (via ftp) but now have no access to my ‘jigsaw’ theme. The dashboard has a bare minimum of updates, media folder and users … tried all sorts of stuff including changing theme and stylesheet via php admin etc. Site still intact but cannot do anything in dashboard…
help please (relatively new to WP)

  • Try:
-Deactivate all plugins and see if you can access the jigsaw theme
-Go to Updates (dashboard) and reinstall WordPress

thx for the prompt reply but had already tried that .. tried again but still only the barebones dashboard.. is there somthing in 1 of the files which load the dashboard which might still be trying to load the time.ly theme, which of course I have now deleted?

Some of the WordPress files may be incomplete or corrupt that may cause such problems. To overcome the problem, you may delete all core files and folders except wp-content and wp-config.php and replace them with freshly downloaded copies. More info here:

Unfortunately the manual update did not work, so I restored the site from a backup… which on its own did not solve the problem but a restore of MySQL dB prior to the time.ly plugin has given me back the dashboard, of course, – all the changes I made since then will have to be redone 🙁 … thank you for your help and suggestions
