• Hey everyone,
I have a question about how much you can customize a home page and its layout.
I am using the Kadence template and am using a starter template. 1. I am assuming I can create my own home page as a blank page and start building a new home page with block elements to replace the default home page? So this default home page can be deleted?

2.If I was to use a starter template and and to create my own home page or use a different home page template from the design library-would I just delete the original home page?

So is it OK to delete or really modify an original home page? Or does it contain important structural information for the rest of the pages?
Any information on this would be most appreciated,
    Thanks!

  • Hello @flamey23

When you install a starter template with a home page template, you are free to delete the home page entirely if you want. The templates download content and settings. However, the settings are in the at Appearance > Customize > Posts/Pages Layout and the layout section of your choice.

For example, the home page is a page, so the Page Layout settings dictate whether the page title is displayed, if the page shows a sidebar, or if the page is full width or narrow. These settings constitute the important structural information for the rest of the pages, not the content within the home page.

Keep in mind you can change a lot of the settings for individual pages in the Gutenberg editor, too. For example, you can set all pages to a narrow layout through the global customizer settings but then make the home page full-width when editing the page individually.

Thanks for detailed answer and clarifying structure of home pages!
