Could you copy the exact wording of the issue?
What solution are you using (MAMP, XAMPP, Local by Flywheel, etc.)?
What permalink settings do you use?
What are the contents of your /.htaccess file?you can actually view it yourself, the website is live.. go to micronourishedlife.com and then click HOME. you’ll see what i mean. I’m using bluehost as a server. permalink settings i’m not sure. .htaccess i’m not sure what you mean here either. Sorry website making newbie here. Thanks so much for helping me
Oh. You’ve got a custom entry in your menu that is pointing to the visitors own computer…
Go to Appearance – Menus and change the custom link for “Home” to simply point to/Thank you so much! That did work. But now when I click HOME it takes me to a page that reads “Home” rather than the actual desired home page which displays a blog entry. Any thoughts on this? Thanks again
Well. A link to
/is a link to the “root page” of your site. If you want to point to a different page, then simply change to the URL of that page. (for instance/start/)hmm. ok. I’m lost on this one. is it under pages or still menu
I’m still talking about your custom menu item.
Alternatively, when you’re editing the menu contents, you can in the left part find and select the page you want to appear in the menu and then add it. Since it will appear at the bottom of the menu, you’ll then have to drag it to the correct position at the top (and save the menu again, of course).
I still can’t get the home page to take me home. Under menu I don’t see any place to add any kind of URl. I played around with options under the PAGE “home” and also didn’t have success adding a url there. I may be getting off topic from my original thread, sorry about that.
OK. So you can continue to use a custom menu item. That’s fine.
I note that currently your blogroll is set as your homepage. I.e. when I visit/I get a list of your one post. That’s the default setting of a new WordPress site.Under Settings – Reading you can set a different page to be your start page.
For that, you need to first create (and somehow name) your start page.
Then you go to Settings – Reading and select a “Static page” as home page, next you select that page as start page. Simple.
If you still want to have a blog page, then you need to create one more page, which you might name “News” or “Blog” or “Thoughts” or “Whatever”. No need to add any content to that page. Next under Settings – Reading, where you’ve already set some static page as your start page, you now select this other page as your “Posts page”. You may need to add this new page to your menu structure, so that you visitors may find it.ok. to be clear, why can’t i just use the home page and route that to where i want to be? why do i need to invent a new page?
By default, most themes will have a roll of your blog posts on the start page. And the WordPress way of defining different content for the start page is to create a page with that content and then make it the start page.
It sounds more complicated than it actually is.The blog page seemed to work from your instructions but home page (now called home (start) because there was already a page called home, is still not working
side note, i love that i just learned how to make that blog menu item as a bonus! thanks for that, it was on my list.
There may be some special things with how your theme handles the start page layout. Check the details for your specific theme.
ok thanks
