• Help!

    Blog URL: http://www.thesocialsavvygroup.com

Problem: Maybe I have this completely backwards but I thought after I installed wordpress with bluehost, I would be redirected to http://www.thesocialsavvygroup.com/home and could enter then enter through wp-admin.. however when I go to these sites I get a 404 error. I have not been able to sign in at all to the dashboard because of the error. Is this because they still haven’t propagated? Is the site not pointed correctly?

I have managed to get myself very confused so any help is much appreciated! I originally opened the domain with google, who uses godaddy, opened a wordpress.com then decided I wanted a .org so opened a bluehost to host my .org account and I feel like something was lost in translation and my poor website doesn’t know where to go… Right now the name server is pointed at bluehost.. Please help!

  • Right now, http://www.thesocialsavvygroup.com/home/wp-login.php prompts me for ID and password to login to WordPress. http://www.thesocialsavvygroup.com/home gets me to your WordPress home page.

However, going to the “root”, http://www.thesocialsavvygroup.com, has a problem. My Firewall shows the BlueHost header, but the content of the page is replaced with “{my firewall} has determined that the site you are trying to visit contains potentially harmful or objectionable content.”

Thank you for responding, I really appreciate it!

Now when I go to http://thesocialsavvygroup.com/home/wp-login.php I am getting a “Too Many Re-directs” notice… in my googlechrome browser.. How can I simplify this? What browser did you use to see the login because I have yet to see it!

Who do I contact or what can I do to get rid of the firewall message?

Thank you again for your help.. I REALLY appreciate it!

I am using Firefox, but this may be, as you suggest, an issue with your domain name servers not having “gone around the world” yet. It can take up to 48 hours, but 12 hours is usually enough.

I only have one firewall, VIPRE, so I don’t know if this is just them or if there is widespread reporting. I would start with BlueHost support, as it may just be a case of cleaning up your root directory for your web site. If they say “never heard of VIPRE”, point them here: http://www.vipreantivirus.com/. It is widely used in the Corporate world, less so for individuals as it is not sold in stores. No matter what, it should get BlueHost to at least check your site out for any signs of malware.

Noticing the site directs to the /home and also that the login page prompts for a password and username. If you’re not seeing that, you might want to get a hold of Bluehost for some one-on-one support. Good luck!
