• I am having so many problems getting wordpress to run. I have changed the “sample” config file and tried to upload it in dreamweaver. Someone said dreamweaver won’t work. So I downloaded filezilla and used homesite to edit the sample file. I can not find an upload button on homesite and at one point it kicked me into dreamweaver. The updates to the config file were still there, so I tried again to upload from dreamweaver. I can not get the admin page to open in a browser. I keep getting an error message…
I think I’ve spent about four hours over two days trying to get this blog up and running…

  • Just upload through filezilla. As soon as you add a layer of complexity (by trying to use an html editor as an ftp program) you run into problems.

I have uploaded with filezilla. I have uploaded the whole wordpress file. I have also uploaded just the wp-config.php file. When I type in http://love2bmom.net followed by my_blog/wp-admin/install.php (I saved it as my_blog)or by wp-admin/install.php I still get the page not found message. I don’t know what I’ve done wrong. I also called godaddy to verify the MySQL info.
I don’t know if this helps any, but when I look in dreamweaver at my files on the remote site, the wordpress files are there – including the wp-config.php file. Does this mean that I’ve typed in the wrong path or made a simple mistake somewhere along the way?
    Thank you for your help!

Well, your database and wp-config.php info is probably okay, since you are NOT getting the dreaded “database error” page. Tell you what – to save yourself any more agonizing hours and hair pulling, try http://install4free.wordpress.com/ instead. One of the installers will get it set up for you as soon as possible, with nothing more than you sending along the info they need.

Once it’s set up on your server, you’ll be able to look at what THEY did, and see where you got confused, I bet!

THANK YOU! I hope they will be able to tell me what I did wrong so that I can learn from all of this. I actually have learned A LOT during these two days, but I am begining to feel a bit wacky…
I left my comment on the install4free page.
    Thanks again!
