• There is definitely a learning curve if you have to use the short codes, but Paul, the creator, diligently helped and all is good now.

The navigation for help for the plug-in could be a lot better, but when you find what you need, it’s helpful.

    Hi @websitende

I’m sorry you are frustrated with Site Reviews. It can be difficult to get your head around using shortcodes if you are unfamiliar with using them!

Before addressing the specific points of your review, here is the most basic way of using the shortcodes (without using any of the shortcode options):

    1. To display the review form, add [site_reviews_form] to your page.
    2. To display your latest reviews, add [site_reviews] to your page.
    3. To display the rating summary, add [site_reviews_summary] to your page.

This is all in the “Getting Started” welcome page of Site Reviews.

Now to address your negative review:

So-called tutorials are abysmal. Using Classic Editor. Add the short codes, it won’t even display reviews. So people can make them, but they aren’t displayed. Basically, it’s the worst.

Edit: Have to use different short code. [site_review class=”single-review full-width”] The first short code doesn’t work.

Based on your edit, I can deduce that you just copy/pasted the first example in the shortcode documentation instead of reading what the shortcode option used in the example actually does.

In the documentation, the first example given for the [site_reviews] shortcode explains how to use the assigned_posts option. If you would have read the documentation for this option, you would have read this: “Include the “assigned_posts” option to limit reviews to those assigned to specific posts, pages, or other public post types.”

So, just copy/pasting [site_reviews assigned_posts="post_id"] on your page will of course display nothing if you haven’t assigned any reviews to that page.

But here is the dumbest of dumb. It doesn’t remove “There are no reviews yet. Be the first one to write one,” even though there are reviews submitted.

As explained, you did not read the documentation. Instead, you just added the first shortcode option example to your page without reading what the option does.

    Instead of [site_reviews assigned_posts="post_id"]

    Try this: [site_reviews]
