This plugin doesn’t offer a way to host locally, but you can certainly set up self-hosting if you like.
There’s a feature request issue here to track this request that’s also been raised by others.
In the meantime, if you want to set up self-hosting, and you’re advanced WordPress user who’s comfortable editing PHP code in your theme’s functions.php file and managing your own file uploads to your web server, you could adapt the guidance in the custom WordPress installation instructions here.
As for the 4-star rating, I’d love to see more 5-star ratings, so if you think it deserves one and haven’t already added one, please do! I think the current 4-star average is somewhat historical, since we inherited this plugin namespace from a previous plugin that was not being maintained. It already had a 4-star average rating when we inherited it. Some 5-star reviews have been added since, but it’ll require a lot more 5-star reviews over time to change that average.
