My host upgraded PHP and SQL this morning and now my site is telling me: Error establishing a database connection.

My site was working perfectly right until the update. Here is some information:

    URL: http://www.keenandgraev.com
    Version: 2.5

    Apache version 2.0.63
    PHP version 5.2.5
    MySQL version 5.0.51a-community

    Any help is appreciated.

I want to add that as far as I know my information in the config.php is 100% accurate. It has worked fine for 2 years. The problem only came about after my host upgraded PHP and mySQL.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I tried a new install for the heck of it. Used fantastico to install and the same error occurs with a new install in a different directory.

What could this possibly be? Something wrong with my host?

99% sure is either something wrong with your host or your wp-config, double check your database’s password and/or contact your host.

Nothing is wrong with the config because I have not changed a thing. It worked for 12+ months no problem. Not until my host upgraded to Mysql5 and php5 did it suddenly deliver the “Error establishing a database connection” message. On top of that having a fresh automatic fantastico install get the same problem… is not a coincidence.

Does WordPress have compatibility issues with Mysql 5 or Php 5 that would be causing this?

Well, maybe your host changed the database info during the upgrading process? Check with them.

Turns out my host had a SQL socket layer down… or something like that. Issues was completely unrelated to wordpress. (Thank god)
