• I currently run a website which has an out of date wordpress blog, Now I’d like to slowly integrate my existing site into this.

My problem is my hosts only support up to php 5.2.0 so I can only run an out of date version. The hosts explained they cannot upgrade the php on “these” servers and i’d have to switch to another which involves moving and re-setting up databases, emails + the entire site ALONG with changing the DNS server so the site could be out of action for some time.

I am no expert with any of this, but these seem like some pretty extreme hoops to jump through just to get wordpress working…

Anyone else had similar issues? Is it essential to be running the most up to date version of wordpress? Do I just have to go along with it and accept this is the only way to make this work?

Your hosts should be able to do that for you.

If you want to minimise the risk of being hacked, it’s essential.
