Hi there,
Thank you for contacting us.
Elementor does not natively generate WebP images, but WordPress itself, along with plugins like Smush, Imagify, or EWWW Image Optimizer, may generate WebP versions automatically. If Elementor or your theme is generating WebP versions, you can try the following:
- Disable WebP in Your Optimization Plugin:
- If you’re using an image optimization plugin, go to its settings and disable WebP generation.
- Modify WordPress Functions:
- Some themes automatically generate WebP images. If you suspect this is happening, check your theme’s functions.php for any WebP-related code.
Does Elementor Delete WebP Files When an Image Is Removed?
- If Elementor Generates WebP Dynamically:
- The WebP version might not exist as a file but could be served dynamically using a CDN or optimization plugin.
- If the WebP Image Is Created in
/uploads/ and Not Dynamically Generated:
- WordPress typically does not automatically delete additional formats when an image is deleted.
- However, some optimization plugins do delete WebP files when the original image is removed.
Hope this helps.

Hi
Are you getting an upload issue with AVIF or are you having an issue in the Elementor Editor when using the AVIF?
Can you please confirm if the AVIF format is enabled for upload in the WP and server config itself?
