How do do few basic things? Apply, close, restore original?

It was not obvious how to move through sites but with a help of other thread I figured it out.
Still, I can’t use this plugin because:
1) I don’t know how to apply changes, is it this mark icon in upper left corner? I’m not sure and a bit afraid to click it, because I don’t want to do any changes now but would like to know how to make them once I will be ready for it.
2) Let say I applied changes. Then what? So far the only way out of it was to go to the previous site (browser’s arrow). Can’t see any close/exit button.
3) Let’s say I apply something accidentally or changed my mind and want to restore original view. How do I do that?Also, why magnifying glass is to minimize or maximize below hierarchy panel? WHY? Magnifying glass means search fun and that’s overall standard. Using it differently is just confusing and a bad design. Why not “minus/plus” or similar sign? It wouldn’t be perfect but still better then magnifying glass.
Those little things make this awesome plugin confusing and anti-intuitive for a beginner. In my book that’s simply bad design. I would still rate this plugin 5 stars because it’s so good but I’m surprised that someone didn’t thought about basic things that people will look for. Without those little things, great idea becomes frustrating.
