Hi bjohnston9,
How do I get the current listings (from this broker) from Lots for sale, homes for sale, etc onto this page?
There are a couple of ways to do this.
1.) You could use the shortcode generator and select the “IDX Listing Summary” widget to display the listings. You can break the listings down by using the “Filter By” drop list. If this is an office subscription to the plugin, you’ll be able to select a specific agent’s listings. You can also use the Property Type drop list to narrow the widget to display specific listing types.
2.) The other way would be to narrow the listings by creating a saved search in the flexmls account the plugin was purchase under. Once you’ve created saved search, you’ll need to create an IDX link so you can select it in the plugin to apply the search to the widget.
Here is a tutorial on that…
https://wpdemo.flexblogs.flexmls.com/documentation/saved-searches-idx-links/
Also, the widgets will automatically update with changes and new listings when they happen.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Thanks!
Thanks Matt for this information. I suppose I’m still struggling and need to be pointed into the right direction.
The plug-in is installed on the WordPress website- the api key is there and accepted. I do not have access to the pw. So I’m just using the plugin as installed and truly shooting in the dark.
In the text code of the “Our Listings” page I can see this code:
[idx_slideshow title=”Backus Realty Custom Homes and Lots for Sale” link=”default” horizontal=”4″ vertical=”1″ auto_rotate=”8000″ source=”office” display=”all” sort=”recently_changed” additional_fields=”beds,baths,sqft” destination=”local” send_to=”photo”]
It’s clearly pulling from a slide show called “Backus Realty custom homes and lots for sale” How do I edit this slide show within WordPress? It currently shows on the page a horizontal bar that could include 4 listings, however only 2 are showing. Naturally I want this list to show a more comprehensive list including lots for sale, current listings etc.
Thanks for your help!
Rebecca
bjohnston9,
I see the shortcode has link=”default” which means it looks to the “Default IDX Link” you have selected under Settings>flexmls IDX>Behavior. Would you be able to tell me which link you have selected there? This will help me troubleshoot this problem.
Thanks!
The Default IDX Link is set to “Comprehensive Residential all zip codes”
Thank you!
Thanks, bjohnston9!
The “Comprehensive Residential All Zip Codes” IDX link only contains Residential listings and actually is narrowing to 4 zip codes:
Search Parameters: Property type Residential; Status of ‘Active’; Current Price of 99000 and 999999999; Zip Code of ‘85641’, ‘85747’, ‘85748’, ‘85749’.
Could you please try clearing the cache in the plugin and then try this shortcode instead?
[idx_slideshow title="Backus Realty Custom Homes and Lots for Sale" link="17sm89ouw33m" horizontal="4" vertical="1" auto_rotate="8000" source="location" display="all" sort="recently_changed" additional_fields="beds,baths,sqft" destination="local" send_to="photo"]
This shortcode is linked to a new IDX link I setup (“Our Homes and Land Listings”) that should pull the correct listings into the slideshow. Let me know if there are any problems or questions.
Thanks!
I so appreciate your help. Thank you!
I’ve cleared the cache and tried this code. Unfortunately the following error was given when I tried to preview the page w/ the changes
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 261900 bytes) in /home/content/35/11361235/html/wp-content/plugins/flexmls-idx/lib/base.php on line 763
Thoughts?
You’re very welcome 🙂
This is a common problem in WordPress. Your hosting company should be able to increase the PHP memory to fix this problem.
Here are the technical details on that…

Thank you Thank you! I was able to get PHP increased and the code works wonderfully.
In the future if I want to change the selection of the slideshow and customize it to something different. How would I go about doing that? As much as I appreciate help, I also like to learn to do it myself too.
Again, thank you for your help. I so appreciate it!
You’re welcome, bjohnston9

When you add the IDX Slideshow widget there are a variety of options that set what listings to show. Namely: IDX Link, Filter By, Property Type, Location, Display
Here is the documentation page for the IDX Slideshow options…
