I started using wordpress last year and plugins was one of my options to build my site. This time around it doesn’t have the option to add plugins and it’s not even listed. Is their a different wordpress that I am suppose to be using or do I add plugins another way?

  • Is your site on WordPress.COM? If so, you cannot use plugins on WordPress.COM sites:

yes it is but I was using it last year. Did they change it or is it in another version of wordpress?

No, it’s never been possible to use plugins there. On the self-hosted version of WP (which is what this site and these forums are for), you can use plugins – perhaps this will be helpful:

For WordPress.COM support, you’ll need to use their forums, BTW. [But don’t bother asking about plugins :).]

I’m so confused…. I wasn’t building the site on ww.wp.xz.cn. Doesn’t even look like one could build a site on wordress.org. That site just gives me downloads for themes, pluggins and things like that. I was building my site on wordpress.com and in the area with all my tools pluggins was one of the options because I had added the pluggin buddypress to my site. I am obviously missing something or something has definitely changed.

No, you cannot build a site here – no one can. ww.wp.xz.cn does not host sites. You’d need to pay for hosting from a hosting company.

Where is your other site hosted? i.e. who are you paying?

This is what I am trying to do, I am trying to build a social networking site on wordpress.com and I am trying to add buddypress back onto my site. How can i achieve these goals? Or do I need to go back to Joomla, however joomla seems to be much harder than wordpress that’s why I started using wordpress last year.

You CANNOT do that on WordPress.COM, no. You CAN do that if you set up a new site on a independent hosting company. See:

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/hosting/

No reason you can’t do it with WordPress, just not on WordPress.COM – which is totally different than a self-hosted ww.wp.xz.cn site on a hosting company.
