Hi Beri,
There are some differences in the shortcodes. The AMAZONPRODUCTS shortcode is meant to have the product laid out in a somewhat preset layout, so there are more styles associated with that one than with the amazon-element(s) shortcodes.
The latter two (element and elements) are meant for displaying individual elements in whatever order or manner you choose, so the styling is intentionally less. The theme styles generally style many of those elements so they fit your theme better (this of course varies by theme).
There are some basic amazon-element styles that are in the plugin styles, but these are all editable and you can add any other styles you desire (in the plugin options under the styles section at the bottom of the page). The basic styles are there for images and pricing, but since the amazon-element(s) shortcode allows for any field usage that Amazon returns from the API (there are A LOT), we thought it better to let the theme handle basic styles for those and then allow individuals to add their own as needed. The class names for the elements are based on the element returned.
The classes and elements for the AMAZONPRODUCTS shortcode are preset, so it is much easier to style those – as we know that when someone uses that shortcode that there are a set number of elements and classes to contend with for styling. But again, we try to let the theme do most of the styling (i.e., we don’t style font family or other items that would make it look completely different from the other theme elements.)
After all, if you are advanced enough to figure out what fields you need to use from the API from your site from the complex API, a little CSS should be a breeze!
Let me know if you have some specific issues with the styling and we will try to help you out.
Warmest regards,
Don
Wow that was fast! I’ll try to code the CSS myself then (I’m not a guru but I’ll manage somehow). If I need further help I’ll get in touch with you 🙂
Thanks a lot for your quick and detailed answer Don, I really appreciate it.
Have a nice day!
Beri
Beri,
Not a problem and best of luck.
