How do I compile XML?

    I’m getting a lot of fatal errors trying to install stats plugins. I think there is something wrong with XML. I finally got an error message that says the following:

    “It appears that SimpleXML is not compiled into your version of PHP. It is required for this plugin to function correctly.”

    Question: how do I fix this?
    Please help.
