• I tried an automatic update to 3.0.1. It didn’t work. Apparently my host doesn’t support this. My real problem is that after trying I now have a nag line at the top of my “Dashboard” saying: “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete- please attempt the update again now.”
Does anyone know how to remove this?
    Thanks

Completing a manual upgrade to 3.0.1 should remove the notice.

A manual upgrade didn’t work either. It crashes the site saying that I need to update the sql version. My host is using the latest.

I hate to ask, but what version of MySQL are they running? That error would only have been triggered if they were running a version below 4.1.2.

Even if they assure you that it’s up to date, I’d consider switching to another provider, since either they’re lying or their MySQL configuration is so messed up that it’s misreporting its own version.

Thank you MacManx, I will look into that.
