I like some of the default styles PUT comes with. I’d like to tweak them just a bit. How do I do this? I noticed there were no css files that come with this plugin.

The styles are loaded from the jQuery website, if you wish to create your own, or a modified version of an existing style, the easiest method to do that is create a style using the jQuery theme roller(you can use an existing style as a base to start customizing).
