How do you use Custom Admin Columns?

I have installed Custon Admin Columns and activated it. I read all of the read me, searched web for help, and still can’t figure how to actually make my homepage a two column page and keep the sidebar format on the right at http://roundhousetalk.com
I want my front page and perhaps my editorial page to look like a newspaper layout. I am new so if you have suggestions, please be specific about what to do, which to edit, and where to place the code in the file(s). Thanks.
