How does Gutenberg work without V8?

    Update : searched for “develop WP plugins with React and got the information 🙂
    If I’m not wrong, Gutenberg is built with React JS which requires the V8 engine. However, most shared hosting environments do not have V8. So how does Gutenberg work?
    I want to get more involved in WP, and I think Gutenberg is going to be a massive part of WP development. Please help me understand this 🙂

    To develop the core Gutenberg does require using Nodejs, which is based off the V8 JavaScript engine. However, you can extend the Block Editor (Gutenberg) without being required to use Nodejs.

    You can also find other tutorials there on how to extend the Block Editor including creating your own blocks.
