I wonder if there is any easy way to turn off the rich text comment writer and therefore accept and display text only comments. Thanks!

Rich text comment writer? Where do you have this? I’d like to have a rich text comment writer.

Are you talking about comments? Or posts? 2 different things here.

Thank you Otto42 for replying my question. Yes, I mean text comment writer provided with WordPress 2.1.3. It might not looks like a rich text writer for the first glance. But actually if some hypertext lines are input, such as things bracketed with “<” and “>”, rich text will be displayed, which means that a mischief could screw up the entire commentary zone. That is why I want to have ensure that only text could be accepted and displayed in the commentary zone. Does it sound reasonable? Or am I missing something? Thanks again.

    edit wp-includes/kses.php

very near the top of that file you can set what tags can be used during commenting.

Thank you whooami! That sounds too hi-tech for me. I could only turn off the comment editor before I could manage to figure that out. Anyway, thanks!

By default nothing “dangerous” is allowed when writing comments.
Yes, you can have em, strong, a, blockquote… for formating but, basically, that’s all.
    You shouldn’t worry about it.
