• I am moving my blog from Yahoo to JustHost. I knew I had to back up the blog so I downloaded all the files to my computer via FTP. I didn’t know I needed to back up the database with phpMyAdmin or any of the plugins.

I accessed WordPress through Yahoo and now that the domain transfer has gone through I cannot access the WP control panel. Therefore, I can’t go back in and create a backup of the database in order to transfer it over to JustHost.

I am running out of ideas for what to do. Can anybody help? I would be happy to provide more information; I’m just not sure what else is needed.

phpMyAdmin is usually offered through your hosting provider’s control panel, so you should be able to get to it at Yahoo, even though the domain transfer has gone through (assuming that you haven’t closed your Yahoo hosting account).

If you still can’t get to phpMyAdmin, there are a few alternative backup options detailed here, including an option that uses the MySQL command line:

Yahoo wants me to use my domain name to access phpMyAdmin (i.e., http://widget.com/phpmyadmin/) so I still can’t access the app even though I’ve got it installed. Also, it’s been years since I last had to do any SQL coding. I’m not sure if that part of my brain still works! 😛

In any case, I emailed justHost to see if I can temporarily point the domain back to Yahoo so I can access these services. We’ll see.
