Just how do I create the required key, please?I am advised to – Please create a key for “Google Static Maps API” and “Google Maps Embed API” using the Google Developers Console. I’ve logged into the “Console” but then been sent round in circles. In particular, clicking on “wizard step #1” or “wizard step #2” just gets me to the Console without enlightenment.
    Please could you explain:
    1. Where to find these two “API”s in the Console; I can’t see any mention of these “static” and “embed” words; I just get choices of “server” and “browser”?
    2. Once I’ve found them, how to combine two things into the one key required by the Google Maps Widget?
I love the widget but am approaching the stage of just deleting it as Google seems to have invented a mad, mad world.
Please help me create a valid key.

    Regards and thanks.

    Hi,
    1) click the browser key, step one (static/embed has been done by the wizard)
    2) it’s done automatically; both services will be enabled on the same key once you use wizard step #1 and #2

Many thanks. I only had to ride the merry go round twice this time but the Plugin has accepted the key so I am a happy bunny.
I think my Scripts was turned off at first so the Wizards didn’t run. With respect I would still like to suggest the situation and the instructions are a nightmare for people like me who just want the plugin to work and have not got into the mad world of the Google Developers’ Console? Perhaps a bit more detail is needed? I ended up with many “Projects” and had to guess which was the latest attempt.
    Thanks again for your help.

We know it’s not simple 🙁 Videos are being recorded as we speak. Hopefully they’ll help.

Glad you got it working 😉
