• Hi there, I recently connected my Namecheap domain to Squarespace without disconnecting it from WordPress. I would like to reference the content I created on my wordpress account but it’s directing me to squarespace and now I need to create a subdomain so I can access all my old website’s content that’s not connected. I need some help getting started and I’d appreciate your help with any simple steps I can take to make my subdomain. Thank you.

  • Hi there!

It sounds like you’d like to have your root domain (e.g. example.com) point to Squarespace, but set up a subdomain to point to your WordPress site. Is that right?

If so, you’ll need to go through your domain registrar – where you bought the domain – to change these settings. From what you’ve shared, it sounds like this might be Namecheap.

To set up a subdomain for your WordPress site, you’ll need to take a look through your registrar’s support documentation on how to set up “DNS records,” which will usually be a CNAME or A record. Their support team will also be able to help if you have any trouble setting this up or if you have specific questions about which DNS records to use.

Once you’ve set that up, you may also need to update your site URL.
