How to disable plugin update alert emails?

    Hello,

    I find the constant plugin update alert emails from WordFence a. annoying and b. a waste of energy, literally. I do not need these reminders, or at least not on an ASAP basis. I do not find a setting that explicitly enables me to stop those messages. Do I change severity setting from «medium» to «high»? Do I exclude the plugins folder in the activity report window?

    I have set email summary to once a week. That would do the job for me finely, thank you 😉

    I am grateful for any hint!

    Hi @midway88, sorry to hear you’re unhappy with the alerts you’re receiving but I’m sure we can help out with those.

    In Wordfence > All Options > Email Alert Preferences, you will see a series of checkboxes titled “Email me when…” and “Alert me when…“. Feel free to modify those so that you either suppress all emails or only leave the most serious circumstances as active depending on your preference. Don’t forget to press the SAVE button when done.

    I already did what you suggested. But I have not found a way to explicitely stop e-Mail alerts for plugin updates, except raising severity status (which is already at «medium».

    You see, it’s not only exaggerated to send all those mails, but it’s also a serious waste of energy.

    I have tried to add the plugins-folder to the «List of directories to exclude from recently modified file list».

    I’ll see if that does the trick.

    Hi @midway88, thanks for the clarification, you are correct that this was not part of the Email Alert Preferences.

    If you access Wordfence > All Options > Scan Options > General Options, you will see a checkbox for “Scan for out of date, abandoned, and vulnerable plugins, themes, and WordPress versions“. This checkbox means that Wordfence simply alerts you via email if you are using any out-of-date themes or plugins. We naturally recommend this is turned on to ensure you have the latest and most secure versions of everything, but this is the option you are looking for to suppress these emails.
