You are right – At the moment an calendar entry is a title and an image, that’s it.
Let me know some more details about your goal and I am sure we can workout a solution for you.

I want it to act like a normal post both in front and in admin.
Is that possible to add?
I tried to set the system date to december 20 -2014, but nothing happened. The posts status are still set to scheduled.

I am going to extend the plugin with possibility to change the advent calendar custom post type and will provide a second plugin as example how to extend the base plugin to your needs, what do you think? 🙂
Johannes, I added the possibility to extend the advent calender entry to your needs, please read the FAQ which I introduced with the new version 1.0.3: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/advent-calender/faq/
Let me know if you need further help.
Hi, after adding the code in function.php I can now see the editor area in admin, but how can I show the content at front end? Do I have to alter the mentioned single-advent-calendar-entry-custom.php ?
Hi,
Copy the single custom template to your theme folder and it should be fine, since it will be used automatically and already contains the code to output the editor content.
Does it work for you?
