    Hi:

I have a WordPress site using the Twenty Eleven 1.2 theme by the WordPress team.

Most pages, including ‘static’ pages and blog feeds, includes the sidebar. However, individual post pages do not include the sidebar.

Do I need to modify the theme to include the sidebar on ind. posts, or am I missing something in the configuration?

    Thank you,
    Bob Herman

  • If it’s not in the theme options then you would have to modify the theme files.

this article does explain how to add a sidebar to single posts (and pages – but read all to the end for some explanation how to do this just for the single posts) and also provides the link to a plugin which on its own might do the job.

in any case, please create a child theme to work with – do not edit Twenty Eleven as the default theme of wp3.2 directly.
a child theme will also help to keep any customisations when you next upgrade your wordpess version.

It’s true with any theme (unless you’ve written it yourself) that you will lose any customizations if you do an automatic upgrade.

I used the Twenty Eleven Theme Extensions plugin (by MozTools) to easily add the sidebar to individual post pages.
