I’d like to change the label for event “Categories” to “Event Type” in the live site. (I don’t care if it remains “Categories” in the admin side.)

Even thought I don’t know PHP, I searched and found the taxonomy in three different PHP files and successfully changed it. However, I know this isn’t how it’s to be done because updates will likely overwrite my changes. Sure enough, I ran an update today and “poof” my changes were gone.

So how can I put my customized taxonomy in a file that will not change with an update?

  • Hi,

Please try “Replace Default Words”, it is possible to rename all the words on the calendar with this plugin.

Thanks for the tip! 🙂 I think that will work for us – at least on this website. It’s a very easy, but also very limited plugin, in that it doesn’t let me choose where it applies the change. For instance, if I wanted to keep the word “Categories” for the article types, and only replace it with “Event Types” for the calendar, the plugin doesn’t appear to offer that flexibility. It would change “Categories” everywhere.

But, thankfully, it doesn’t look like we need to use the core word “Categories” on this site for the article categories.

No problem, glad I could help.

    Take care,
    Ben
