Hi there, I’ve just checked your site and I can only see a Site Kit placed Analytics code at present. If you check your own site using tagassistant.google.com you’ll notice this is the only container that’s on your site at present. Site Kit uses a gtag.js method to enable Analytics tracking on your site, and doesn’t add any GTM code by default. While users can choose to connect the Tag Manager module if they wish I don’t see any Google Tag Manager container on your site.
Let me know if you have any more questions on this, or if there is a particular URL on your site you wish me to check.
Hi James, thanks for your prompt reply! I did the integration with GTM via Site Kit months ago, and when I disabled it, the js seemed to have gotten left behind.
Here is a screenshot from Pingdom of the GTM request: https://ibb.co/6bvvhrB
If I understand you correctly, is this tag the one associated with Google Analytics? Thanks 🙂
I can’t be sure how Pingdom reports but I can confirm there is no Google Tag Manager container on your site. It looks like because Google Analytics is requested via a googletagmanager.com source domain as below this is flagged in their reporting, it doesn’t necessarily mean there is a Google Tag Manager container on your site, or that a GTM.js script is added:
src="https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=UA-190******-1"
I also checked this on another site with only Google analytics connected via Site Kit (and with Google Tag Manager disconnected) and the same request domain appears using Pingdom, so this can be disregarded.
Let me know if you have any further questions on this. Thanks for using Site Kit and nice work on your site.
Thanks so much for clearing that up James. 🙂 Cheers.
No problem at all, be sure to reach out if you have any further questions. As it sounds like you’ve been using Site Kit for a while and we’d love to get your plugin feedback if you have a moment free.
