How to Remove render-blocking JavaScript, Optimize CSS GoDaddy managed wordpress

    I am trying to speed up the page load for a client’s site http://nowater.com. I have migrated the site over from Network Solutions to GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress hosting. That has helped a lot yet Google’s pagespeed insights https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ still gives it a less than stellar rating, especially for mobile sites.

    The two main things it tells me to do that I can’t figure out is
    1) “Remove render-blocking JavaScript:”
    2) The other major thing it tells me to do is to “Optimize CSS Delivery”.

    How do I do these?

    Hi Andrew,
    That was fast! Thank you very much!!!
    That helped some Google’s pagespeed insights went
    from 66 mobile, 76 desktop
    to 69 mobile to 85 desktop
    And it took care of all of the “Should Fix” on the desktop review.

    Is there something that will help with the “Optimize CSS Delivery” as well?

    Andrew,
    Oh, wait. It caused the google maps and the testimonials to stop showing. Also it didn’t help some of the other pages all that much.

    I disabled the plug-in you suggested for now.

    After further reading I see the plug-in “Requires that plugins and theme correctly utilizes wp_enqueue_scripts hook. Can be disabled via a checkbox on specific pages and posts.”

    I guess the Vamtam Mimbler theme doesn’t “correctly utilize…”.

    Any other thoughts or suggestions?

    This is a bit of a nightmare problem to resolve without a plugin, can you look at another page load issue? For now you can contact your theme vendors, or the plugin authors (let me know the ones responsible and I’ll forward you) to resolve their enqueue problem. I literally have no idea how you will move every script into the footer if those scripts are not enqueued, as the plugin requires.

    Hi again Andrew,
    That’s what I suspected “a nightmare without using a plug-in”.

    I presume the issue stems either from the coding in the theme or in WordPress itself. I’ll contact my theme author and see what I can learn about “correctly using wp_enqueue_scripts hook”.
