How to reset plugin defaults?
-
Jetpack and evolve theme somehow don’t like each other. Now I messed up things a bit so my site doesn’t show up correctly while Jetpack is enabled (especially when the advanced widget option is active).
Now I’d like to know how to get back to defaults with this plugin to see if it solves my headache.
Thanks in advance!

I’d suggest deactivating the plugin, and then deleting it, all from the Plugins menu in your dashboard. Then, reinstall it from scratch.
Let me know how it goes. If you continue to experience issues, do not hesitate to give me more details about your site and the errors you see.
Could you also confirm that this is the theme you’re using on your site right now, so I can run some tests on my end?
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/themes/evolve/Thanks!
Yes this is the right theme, but I’ve downloaded it from the homepage https://theme4press.com/evolve-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/
So the issue was that the preview under Appearance – Customize didn’t load the preview pane. There was the rotating circle but the preview didn’t appear.
So here’s the result: I’ve deactivated the Jetpack plugin and deleted it. Now the preview came up.
I’ve reinstalled Jetpack and the preview still worked.
When I then connected Jetpack with wordpress.com, the preview broke again (I guess the modules start to work from that time).
The preview works fine when I untick the “Extra Sidebar Widgets” option in Jetpack.
Let me know if you need further information.
I’ve just installed the Evolve theme on my site, and although there are a few notices generated by the theme, the Customizer appears to be loading properly on my end, whether Jetpack is activated / connected or not, and regardless of the status of the Extra Sidebar Widgets module.
Do you happen to be using other widget plugins on your site?
Here’s an overview of plugins installed: http://i.imgur.com/QrRxbbe.png
It’s actually a brand new installation with no custom CSS or any other modifications.Would you like to have access to the backend?
What happens when you deactivate the Redux Framework plugin?
evolve depends on redux. It tells you that after installing it if you have no redux installed: http://i.imgur.com/roQI2AN.png
Didn’t you notice that during your theme installation of evolve? Nevertheless, I’ve deactivated redux and still the template seems to work. When I go into customization with installed “Extra Sidebar Widgets” option, the preview doesn’t load.
I’ve also noticed that with the activated jetpack option, the widget setting in the selection pane of the customization doesn’t show the widgets entry.

“Extra Sidebar Widgets” turned on: http://i.imgur.com/OalDjG5.pngDidn’t you notice that during your theme installation of evolve?
I did get the notice, but I didn’t install the plugin.
I just tried to install and activate it now, but I couldn’t reproduce the issue. I seem to be able to add and edit widgets, even when the Extra Sidebar Widgets module is active:

- “Extra Sidebar Widgets” turned on: https://cloudup.com/iLWzKyC4_WO
The Evolve theme adds quite a few options to the customizer, so it might be worth waiting a bit before they’re all added.
Could you also try in a different browser, and let me know if the problem remains the same?
Thanks!
I see it happening with FF, Chrome and IE. Same behaviour in all browsers. Something must be different… I can try to create another setup and reproduce stepwise until it breaks.
That would help. Let me know how it goes!
1) WP blank installation -> Customize preview OK
2) Plugin “WP External Links” installed -> Customize preview OK
3) Plugin “Jetpack” installed and connected with wordpress -> Customize preview OK
4) Theme “evolve” installed -> Customize preview BROKENagain from scratch with another sequence:
1) WP blank installation -> Customize preview OK
2) Plugin “WP External Links” installed -> Customize preview OK
3) Theme “evolve” installed -> Customize preview OK
4.1) Plugin “Jetpack” installed -> Customize preview OK
4.2) … and connected with wordpress -> Customize preview BROKENSo the preview seems to break when using evolve as theme AND wp external links AND jetpack as plugins.
How is your setup behaving?
I can reproduce! The key does seem to be the WP External Links plugin, nice catch!
I then deactivated the Jetpack plugin, and the problem remained: as long as both Evolve and WP External Links were active, I couldn’t use the Customizer panel. On my end, Jetpack doesn’t seem to be involved in the conflict.
Could you try to deactivate Jetpack, and then check if the Customizer works?
Well that’s the point why in the beginning I thought Jetpack was the issuer. If I deactivate Jetpack plugin, the customizer works again.
hm, that’s how what I found on my end. When I deactivated Jetpack, the problem remained: as long as both Evolve and WP External Links were active, I couldn’t use the Customizer panel.
Do you use the most recent version of all these plugins?
Jetpack v3.6.1 and WP External Links v1.80 (on owner’s homepage presented in v1.70 but in wordpress plugin store v1.80 is available). That all under the hood of WordPress v4.2.4 should be the most recent available.
Thank you!
Since your results seem different from mine, could you try to run one more test? Could you deactivate the WP External Links plugin, leave everything else on, and let me know what happens?
