Like everyone, I have wordpress installed into its own directory, and have it pointed to my root directory. My main site is password protected. The problem I am running into is when I login the first time, it requires me to login the second time then the site comes up. How can I modify the .htaccess file to fix this issue? (hope this makes sense to someone.)

    Thanks for your time.

  • You have to login to the main dir and then in the subdir again?
Do you use just one restriction in the main dir? do you change between http and https?

Thanks articles for replying to my post.

    Question 1: Correct.

    Question 2: Correct.

    Question 3: no.

This site is for an alumni site with 500 users with one username and password for each. (Reason: just to ensure that it is a private site and all we need is the one username and password) But since the wordpress installation, it requires it to ask for the login twice.

If you need more information, please ask.

    Thanks again for your time.

    Issue fixed. Thanks.

Care to share any details for the next poor shmo with the same problem?

Sure. Though I don’t know if it will help…

I stated above that I only have one (account) username and password setup for the site, but… beforehand, I did have the wordpress directory password protected while I was configuring it. Though I did disable the restriction, somehow during that process it screwed up the restrictions so I reset everything. And now it works just fine.
