.htaccess is the real file. I have never seen (in a standard WordPress installation at least) a file called htaccess.htm. Anything with a .htm extension is a HTML file, and that’s very far away from what that file is meant to be. The only thing that comes ot midn is that it may have been added as a “placeholder” or template file that’s used by something in your site.

The question being asked in the Post is how to convert .html to .htm with .htaccess file. I will continue to research the subject.
@mahesh Waghmare. Thanks for the help. If you are from India maybe root is pronounced rood. Root is the correct term for the root directory.
