htaccess not uploading…

    Hi

    I’ve just launched this site and then written a number of 301 redirects from their old URL structure directing to the new ones as we’ve merged 3 sites into one.
    Problem is, the htaccess file won’t upload. FTP permissions are all ok.

    I’ve tried uploading as a .txt file first, then renaming as .htaccess but get an error:

    550 Rename .htaccess: No such file or directory

    Any ideas why? All thats in the htaccess file is the rewrite ON code, and the 301s…
