.htm extension on pages

Currently trying to convert existing static website into a wordpress based website (Current site url extensions are .htm).
Can I use this plugin to do this?
I’ve nearly done it on pages by removing the trailing slash using the plugin, however it turns the . (dot) in .htm into a – (hypen) any ideas of how to overcome this?
