@karlemilnikka Can you specify which emails are sent this way? (from which plugin)
Oh. It seems like only Uncanny Owl Groups is affected. Woocommerce and Gravity Forms still work without any issues. I’ll see if I can find out why Uncanny Owl Groups suddenly stopped working after upgrading.
I have the same problem with HTML Tags rendered as text siince upgrading to 2.9.1.1. Formidable Forms emails are now being sent this way.
I’m sorry for these troubles but this is a necessary security step. If a plugin is sending email which don’t have a proper “text/html” content type header we should not convert these emails to HTML anymore.
On the other hand side I don’t expect the developers of these plugins to fix this immediately.
I’m going to make this topic sticky to collect more affected plugins. In the meantime you can downgrade to 2.9.0.3. I’ll keep you updated here
Thanks for the explanation. I’ve reached out to Uncanny Owl and they replied that they will “look into whether we can fix support for WP HTML Mail in the next release”.
Another one for your list.
Seems to happen when POST SMTP is enabled.
I have two sites that use POST SMTP and WP HTML Mail. All email sent by these sites show HTML tags rendered as text.
The content type is correctly set in the email head as ‘Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8’.
Well I had the same issue with memberpress
@leehodson Post SMTP delivers the email but the email content comes from another plugin. Can you tell me which plugin generates the email?
When the email gets wrapped in our template it always receives the text/html content type.
It is more important whether or not it already had the correct content type before.
Hey there,
Per your request:
The plugins are:
– Learndash Notifications
– Uncanny Owl Groups for Learndash
I can get you a copy of these.
On this site, we are using mailgun plugin.
On the production site we will change to WP Mail SMTP by WpForms
Same problem with Events Made Easy
We created a beta version which should fix this problem until other developers fix their emails:
https://drive.google.com/a/codemiq.com/file/d/1kcWfbCMTc2KnuNfIQuGoUkbEqEPQHNpD/view?usp=sharing
Everyone is invited to test this beta and post feedback here.
After installation there’s a new setting on the tab “advanced” to allow HTML code in plain text emails (as it has been default until 2.9.0.3)
Great, it’s working fine here! That was fast, Thank you
I didn’t even know it had worked with all of these plugins before.
Please if you have a few minutes to help me, try the demo above.
