That sounds like you need to designate index.php as a default document to IIS.
I have just posted because I cannot complete installation, reading your message part of the message I get says the same… http404not found??
If you get that resolved maybe I can get some insite into my problem.

It is my own Windows 2003 Webserver. The virtuel directory is a directory under the “FTP sites”. If a put the blog under “Web sites” it works fine, but when I’m trying to put the blog elsewhere on my computer I get the 404 error. I guess that IE don’t understand how to run a .php side on a side that is not placed under “Web sites”.
