• Hi,

I realize there are many threads already started on this topic. My issue is that I am very ‘green’ and most of the solutions are steps past where I need to begin. This is my issue:

I was searching for a new theme for our website & when trying to ‘install’, I kept getting a HTTP 500 error, no matter which theme I looked at. This occurred for several days. I went onto support>forums & it was suggested to deactivate recently added plug-ins (‘theme test drive’ seemed to be the culprit, but I also had ‘Content Aware Sidebar’). I did this, and was finally able to install the theme. Immediately I was not able to login or even to look at my site as a viewer. I went back to forums, & found advice to install FileZilla, uploaded all files, & now I don’t have any idea what to do with them. I see where people talk about “I went into -example- file & fixed it”. I wouldn’t know what to look for, or what would be wrong. Is this novice information already available somewhere & I’ve somehow missed it? Believe me, I’ve searched for it.
    I am running WP 3.5.1.
    My site is http://www.communityhomeschoolcenter.com
If I need to include anymore info, please let me know.
Thank you in advance for any help!

I turned off friendly error messages & now:

homepage returns a white page, no error message now.
    /wp-admin.php returns white page
/about returns this Error 404 message:

    Not Found
The requested URL /about was not found on this server.

I don’t know any other pages to go straight into. I guess my next step is to install Firefox & see if that shows me anything…

I turned off friendly error messages & now:

What do you see when you turn the error reporting ON?

“Display a notification about every script error”

Is this what you were referring to? I didn’t see a box for ‘enable error reporting’. This was the closest I could find. I searched IE help for how to do it & the procedure it gave said it wouldn’t work on my OS.
I enabled that box, reloaded the page, & still nothing. Just a blank page.

I was searching my files for error files, found one in ‘wp-includes’, also found in that folder a file called ‘pluggable-deprecated’, & the word “deprecated” in other places. Should I post these files?

I read the codex page. I’ll have to reread it & about wp-config.php , not sure how to use it.

    Should I post these files?

No, thank you. And stay out of all WordPress core files.
