I just restored my website from a backup but am not able to access it because of an http 500 error with the wordfence-waf.php file of the Wordfence plugin. I tried to disable all my plugins through my hosting and also through file manager but still couldn’t get in. Then I tried to delete the wordfence files in file manager but I still can’t get in. What else can I do?? When I try to log into or go to my website all I get is a blank white page.

Hi @hohtech, thanks for getting in touch with us.

For some background, during a website migration, the wordfence-waf path specified in your site’s auto_prepend_file directive (contained in .user.ini or .htaccess files) would be wrong. For this reason we recommend removing firewall optimization before performing this kind of action.

However, if yours is a direct backup to the same server I wouldn’t expect the same issue as the path should be the same. If you navigate to the .htaccess or .user.ini file in the root directory of your site, you could try removing the auto_prepend_file line (but keep a backup in notepad in case you wish to return it later.) See if your site loads without this line in place.

Failing this, you could contact your hosts/server admin and ask them to check the PHP error logs. The logs should contain further information on the exact error that is occurring when the site fails. You could paste that here to me if you’re unable diagnose and fix the problem once seeing for yourself where the error originates.

Let me know what you find,

    Peter.
