Hi brmartinez, we have some users who occasionally have experienced a “HTTP error” during file upload so it is probably similar issue which you are experiencing.
The most logical thing we can think off is that something times out during the upload and compression process. If you are having this issue constantly, we would like to investigate your setup and reproduce the issue, but I think we may need to get in touch with liquidweb then.
To improve the plugin further we are adding 2 new features with the upcoming release next July:
– delayed compression on file upload
– enable / disable automatic compression on upload
This should give more flexibility and can move potential issues out of the user workflow when adding new images to posts.

Hello all, we have been working hard on the new release of the plugin and are very happy with the initial results.
The new version should allow much faster upload of new images to WordPress by moving the actual optimisation step into a background process. This should also remove potential HTTP errors during new image uploads.

Not an expert on any of this but I fixed the problem on my site by making my php version 7.0. Just go to your cpanel – find PHP Selector and change your PHP configuration to 7.0.
