    I have been using NextGen for a while and I love you plugin.

    However, I just installed a new site (4.1) & added NextGen plugin (2.0.66.37). I got a strange issue: I can no longer upload images through NextGen/Add Gallery/Images. Every time I drag some images and start uploads. All images show an exclamation mark (http error) and no image was uploaded.

    I have another website that was hosted under the same domain. I updated the NextGen (2.0.66.37) & WordPress (4.1) to the latest version and everything works fine. So there are 2 sites under same hosting, one works and one doesn’t. It’s not a server issue. I even checked both folder permission wp-content/gallery, they are exactly same.

    Please help me solving this issue. Thank you a lot.

  • I had the same error problem like you after I just updated wordpress and then installed NextGen.

    After looking into their support forum I did the “Permalink changes”
    and it worked after.
    So go to your site’s dashboard, click on Settings – Permalinks and select “Post Name” and try again – if that doesn’t work then I’m sorry, but that did it for me 🙂

    Hi, I changed the permalink settings and saved it. Then the images start to upload normally. How does permalink change & save can fix this issue is beyond me. But it works!!!
    Thank you so much!

    @markusmbitions – Thanks for sharing!!

    @tajenli – The issue with using “Default” Permalinks only occurs on certain web hosting services … sorry for the inconvenience they are causing you when using NextGEN Gallery.

    Thank you for the reply.
    FYI, my permalinks settings was not “default”, it was on “pots name”. What I did to fix the issue is, changed it to “default” & saved, and image upload works. Then I changed permalinks back to “post name” & saved, it still works.
    So it’s something while you saved the permalink settings fixed the issue. It doesn’t make sense to me. But most important, it fixed the problem.

    @tajenli – Thanks for the update. Sometimes the settings just need to be “refreshed” for Permalinks. It can happen under many circumstances for various themes and plugins.

    Hello, I had been chasing this issue for the last several days. This is what I have learned its a WP 4.1 issues and has to do with the dimensions of a file NOT it’s size as I had thought. Once you being to approach 2600×2600 uploads to the media gallery will fail with an error asking you to try again. They will actually upload to your uploads directory. They will however have only a document thumbnail in the media gallery.

    @emarioc – please start your own thread – this one is marked resolved so won’t be a good place to get help.

    @wpyogi – Thanks!

    @emarioc – I’m not even seeing the relevance to the OP in your posting, it would definitely be a separate topic to address your specific issue.

    Thanks!
