• I have been trying to upload images this week and every time I do, it gives me an “HTTP error” message. When I go to my media folder, I see the images in there. However, when I go to post them, it says the images aren’t there.

I have tried deleting the images and re-uploading them. What am I missing here?

  • Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

Thank you so much for your quick help! I deactivated all plugins and the error still occurred. I then switched to the Twenty Eleven theme, and it fixed it! So what is the next step? Do you think it is worth messaging the theme creator, or trying to troubleshoot?

You should try to find out if there is an upgrade. The site I looked at said the last update was 2011.

If the theme is outdated, you won’t be able to fix it and will (sadly) choose a new theme.

Wow… thank you for letting me know. Is there any kind of workaround you suggest?

Sorry, no work around that I know of.
