• This morning I got an email from Google stating that the number of crawl errors was high. Looking into the issue I noticed that any url from the site resulted in an HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden error. Oddly enough all the content is being served just fine, so I can’t explain it.

When I test a page, the page is fine and gets a HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden error.

I played with a couple of settings, verified that .htaccess is readable and I still can’t explain it. It looks like my headers are all jacked up, but I have not idea why. I’ve been using http://www.whatsmyip.org/http-headers and Google webmaster tools to check them.

What’s more is now I see that some URL’s aren’t having this issue. For example this link is fine, http://www.theouterhaven.net/2016/04/08/nintendo-drops-new-trailer-bravely-second-end-layer/, where this one is not http://www.theouterhaven.net/2016/02/nytf2016-playmates-booth-coverage/.

I’m at my wits end here because this also means that our content isn’t getting crawled which means lower traffic. This would explain why the traffic to the site was dropping. I haven’t made any changes to the site recently either, so I’m here asking for some pointers on where to go next.

My site can be reached at http://www.theouterhaven.net.

    Thanks!
