Thanks for getting in touch about this.
Independent Analytics stores about 200-300MB per million sessions, so if the site gets 1,000 sessions per hour 24/7, that would result in storage of roughly 180MB per month. With such high traffic, there isn’t a way to store less data than this. However, we will be adding a way to delete data older than X months/years in order to limit the total data stored.
and 2GB from this Plugin.
Could you let me know where you’re getting this figure from? The plugin itself is only a few MB.
Yes that would be nice, to be able to export the data and then delete them.
I don’t mean the plugin, I mean the database entries
Thank you!
Got it, thanks for clarifying! How long have you been using Independent Analytics on your site?
We will have the option to delete old data added soon. We have put this off for a while now, but we will get it included in version 2.7.0.
About 2 months.
If I download my data “Export Data to CSV” and then do a “Reset Analytics” will the database clear?
Thank you!
You can download the CSV, but it is more important to download the full database tables. You can export them manually via phpMyAdmin or by using a backup plugin. All of the tables are prefixed with independent_analytics_. If you have the full DB tables, you could always import them to see your data again.
Once that’s done, you can use the Reset Analytics option in the settings, and that will empty all of the tables so they’re back to zero.
You’re welcome!
Stay in touch if you need anything else, and I’ll be happy to help.
