    Hi

Recently I have installed Slimstat on my site and I use Google Analytics and Histats. Although Slimstat and Histats reports are similar, Google Analytics report is totally different.

For example Slimstat and Histats today’s report show more than 25,000 pageviews, which seems to be correct, but Google Analytics says about 6,000 pageviews.

I know these services use different methods, but the difference is HUGE.

    Sorry for my bad English.

    Hi,

is Slimstat configured to work in Server or Client mode?

Pretty much every plugin/service is going to give you different results for visits and vistors, there are several reasons for this:

    – Web crawler detection
    – Detection method (javascript vs server side PHP)
    – Centralized exclusions
    – Services that use centralized databases, like Google Analytics, for spam and robot detection have better detection algorithms. The trade off of course is relaying on an external service.

    Jason.

Slimstat is configured to work in Client mode.

As I mentioned in the first post, I’m aware that different services probably end up in different results, but the difference between 25,000 and 6,000 means something, doesn’t it?

It does, indeed. Are you using caching services like CloudFlare on your site?

I’m not using any CDN but I use wp-Rocket as a cache plugin.

Doesn’t WP Rocket rely on Cloudflare?

    No

I see. However, I suspect that the caching functionality offered by WP Rocket is responsible for this difference.

If so, how come Histats and Slimstat are working?
I think all these three use JS tracking code. Shouldn’t they have at least similar results?

They should, indeed. Maybe you have filters in Google Analytics that ignore certain pageviews?
