Hi there,

I have an issue that some of my pages, as well as my plugins list keeps coming up with a “Critical Error” message.

I have tried to deactivate my hummingbird plugin, as I know this plugin somewhat rearranges the database which I what I can assume the issue is somehow – I am not a programmer and this plugin was working fine but has completely broken some pages on my website. I try to disable but I get the error, it is up to date as far as I am aware.

Please help as I may lose business because of this critical error!
I do not use wordpress directly on .org, but instead have it installed on a hosting website.

Update:

I followed a step in this ticket

although my folder was named “Hummingbird Performance” instead.

and have managed to deactivate the plugin, but am very weary about re-installing it! What if this happens again, it seems to be a common issue which is upsetting as I was really enjoying the plugin.

Hi @nhdesign

Sorry to hear you had this issue.

The fatal error will return a line in the debug.log file, the best approach is reinstalling the plugin using a fresh copy and if the issue persists enable the debug mode following this guide https://wpmudev.com/blog/debugging-wordpress-how-to-use-wp_debug/

This will generate a log file in wp-content folder which gives more information why the critical error is happening.
