  • I was having the same problem and just figured it out.

First: You need to set separate sidebars for the page and for the category. Doesn’t seem to work if you try to do both with one sidebar.

Second: The category name can’t have spaces in it. I spent hours trying to get it to work and when I renamed the category to use spaces instead of hyphens it finally started working. Not the best solution if your category names are displayed publicly, but at least it works…

It is correct that you might need to create different sidebars for different content that might collide – it can be avoided in this case though.

Because pages do not have any taxonomies, the sidebar will work fine for those even though some categories are selected. But because a category is part of a post of some post type, to show the sidebar with posts with given categories, you need to select “Show with all posts” as well. This will show the sidebars with the selected pages, and all posts containing the selected categories. Does this solve your issue?

I will look into the problem about the spaces and get back.

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce the error with the spaces. Can you give more information about this, preferably by opening a new thread?
