    (English version follows) « BRETON FLATS » OTTAWA Le peintre canadien Ralph Wallace Burton vécu la plus grande partie de sa vie à Ottawa. Un jour un commerçant nommé Harold Veil l’a appelé pour lui demandé de peindre un tableau du bâtiment de sa boutique, car «ils allaient la démolir». Finalement, Burton en a peint plus de 30 représentant un paysage urbain en rapide disparition. Le 14 avril 1962, le Cabinet Diefenbaker a exproprié, par décret, tous les bâtiments de « Breton Flats ». Ils ont tous été démolis. Le ministère canadien de la défense et le Musée de la guerre sont installés sur le site. L’œuvre de Burton est la mémoire de ce vieux quartier résidentiel. —— The Canadian painter Ralph Burton lived most of his life in Ottawa.
