Icon Upload Not Working

    I’m testing this plugin as a replacement for a map plugin I’m currently using on another site. This plugin has a clean, simple UI and is way easier to understand and use. Only issue I’ve run into so far is I can’t get the icon upload function to work. The plugin creates the folder associated with the map when the map is created; for example: /wp-content/uploads/easy2map/images/map_pins/uploaded/2. The folder permissions are set to 7-5-5. But when I select “Change icon”, choose a 1KB png or jpg file and click “Upload Icon”, it doesn’t get uploaded. However, if I manually upload the file to the related map folder, the icon does show up in the “My map icons” list, I can select it and the icon on the map is changed. Configuration is WP 4.2.2 running default Twenty Fifteen theme. Easy2Map v1.2.7 with no other plugins installed. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the feedback, and apologies for the issues you’re experiencing. I’ll have a look at this. It must be a folder permissions issue, which is strange since the framework did manage to create the map’s associated pin icon folder, as you indicated.

    I’ll let you know the outcome of my testing.

    Hi,

    The new version of the plugin has just been released (1.2.9.) Please update to this version and let me know if you still experience this issue.
    As an additional possible resolution: please check the folder permissions on the plugins or wp-content folders in your site. It’s very possible that PHP (which operates the plugin backend) doesn’t have permission to add files to sub-folders of one of these folders, which would explain the issue. Depending on the operating system of the server hosting your WordPress site, there are different ways of giving write and read permission to PHP.
