I’d like the video posts to appear everywhere the normal posts do. Homepage, sliders etc. Is this possible?

I think Alex has the same idea: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/plugin-fork . I think you need fork the plugin for that because that stops the separation between normal posts and posts of type external-videos.
