Wondering how does the subscriptions renewals workflow work with iDeal. As in, on Sprint’s website it says that recurring payments work when set up with SEPA after paying with iDeal, so not sure what’ll happen here? Will the subscription renewal orders have to be renewed manually by the customer or how?

Additionally, when the orders are payed by SEPA (as in, they are not immediately confirmed) then which status will they be given? It’s been a huge issue with GoCardless that immediately puts them on ‘processing’ while the payment might not even make it to the merchant.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Our WooCommerce Subscriptions extension does not support recurring payments through iDeal. You would need to use Stripe or Stripe SEPA Direct Debit instead: https://d.pr/free/i/irjTyx

Additionally, you can use Stripe SEPA Direct Debit for automated recurring payments, so neither you nor the customer would have to do any manual renewing. Once orders are paid by SEPA, the order status should be set to Processing, assuming there are not any problems with the transaction.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. However, Subscriptions supports Stripe and Stripe itself supports a flow from iDeal to SEPA payments: https://stripe.com/docs/sources/ideal/recurrin & https://stripe.com/gb/payments/payment-methods-guide#ideal. So the question is, is that somehow done in your plugin?

As for the SEPA payments and order statuses, I suspect you have the same issue as the GoCardless plugin has. Namely, after payment the order immediately gets on ‘processing’ while the actual payment is confirmed in 5-7 business days (https://stripe.com/gb/payments/payment-methods-guide#sepa-direct-debit).

What should happen is that the order is ‘on-hold’ until it’s confirmed or even paid out to the merchant.

Our Subscriptions extension is not developed in a way that supports the iDeal to SEPA payments flow from Stripe. At this time, you would still need to use Stripe SEPA Direct Debit.

What should happen is that the order is ‘on-hold’ until it’s confirmed or even paid out to the merchant.

This is correct, SEPA now sets orders to On Hold instead of leaving in Pending while waiting for charge to complete.
